This research station is located in Khergam Village of Gandevi Taluka of Navsari District in South Gujarat region.

It was established in 1935 by Gaikwad state with a view to develop a horticultural activities in this region.

Geographically, it is situated at 73º East longitude, 21º North latitude and 7.6 meter height from sea level. It is 4 Km away from Gandevi town.

The total area of the farm is 12.23 ha out of which 10.17 ha is under cultivation. The soil of the old farm is clayey with moderate drainage.

The Vengania river is passing near by the farm. The river water is lifted for irrigation and it is available throughout the year.

Annual average rainfall of this area about 1500 to 1800 mm.

The mean maximum temperature varies from 26.00º to 38° c in Summer and the minimum temperature ranges from 26.00° to 10.0º C in winter.

Gandevi belongs to agroclimate zone-I and  Heavy rainfall area. The climate of the zone is characterized by fairly hot summer, moderately cool  winter and warm monsoon.

Since, December, 1987 the All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Banana and Sapota was started and functioning at this centre. From the year 2010 Papaya crop is included in the project.
