Hill Millet Research Station, Navsari Agricultural University, Waghai Dist. Dangs is situated at a cross section of latitude of 20.77' N and longitude of 73.50' E; falls under South Gujarat Heavy Rainfall Zone-I, Agro Ecological situation-I. It was established in 1954-55 with a mandate of developing high yielding and early maturing varieties of paddy and various hill millet crops, and their production technologies. Subsequently, in 1977-78 the hill millet work was strengthened with starting of the scheme "Strengthening of Hill Millet Research Scheme (SHMRS)".And one more new scheme on tuber and vegetable was also sanctioned. Later on, ICAR has sanctioned scheme "AICRP on Tuber crops (other than potato)", which was transferred to Aspee College of Horticulture and Forestry, NAU, Navsari. At present, this is one and only research stations of Navsari Agricultural University where the activities of research on hill millet crops is going on.
